Almir, you have been with us since 2011. How has your career hat Hellmann been like so far?
Now that think about it, it has been quite a journey. I had my first steps at Hellmann. I have started my career as Trainee, then I had the opportunity to rotate through different positions – I have been working as Airfreight Export Operator, then I had a chance to expand my knowledge and get experience in Airfreight Import. I have been taking care for both Export and Import tasks. Now, I was promoted to a position of a Team Leader for Airfreight at our office in Salzburg. At Hellmann it has always been like this, dedication and hard work are always recognized and acknowledged.
That’s quite an impressive development! What about your position as Airfreight Team Leader is the most exciting to you?
I am fascinated by the mission of my job, to make the impossible things possible. To give our customers the best service and satisfaction. But what excites me the most is delivery of shipment from one place to another place in the shortest possible time, especially when I am aware that the shipment is urgent and it must be delivered as soon as possible. I also like when I am taking the responsibility for the whole shipment process.
And in the 13 years you’ve been here, what would you consider your biggest success?
My biggest success at Hellmann was an important project for a customer where I have sent out 770 pallets from Austria to Japan. Here, I have combined this shipment as an AIR-SEA shipment, I have sent the shipment as first via Airfreight to Hong Kong and then via Seafreight. Here it was crucial to save freight charges for our client and to be on time with their stock.
Sounds like you handled that exciting challenge really well! And in general, what is working at Hellmann like?
It's very nice and it feels good to be a part of this company. What I also like is that I make contribution for this company every day. Hellmann is also very respectful to every employee and you also have career chances.
What do you value the most about Hellmann?
What I value the most is that you have the opportunity to be the part of something bigger and that the hard work will always get recognized and rewarded.
That sounds great! What about your team? Could you tell us more about them?
My team is like my friends, we work together, talk together when we have a problem and need a solution, we do it. Most importantly, we are reliable and we always have each other’s back.
Wow, sounds like an amazing team! What has been your favorite moment with your team?
The best memory of me and my team is the yearly teambuilding, where we had won the first place at the group games. As you can only win if you are a real team!
But even a team of winners must know that typical Monday feeling, right? How do you get over it quickly at Hellmann?
For me there are not this typical Monday feelings, as sometimes on weekends I can’t wait to Monday is coming, to see what is waiting for me at my work. And sometimes when you have an urgent shipment, which is ordered in short time, then you don’t have much time to lose. Here a working day feels short.
Almir, if you had to sum it up: What does working at Hellmann mean to you?
To be part of a family company, where you go to work with a smile. As every day is a new day with new experience and new challenges to overcome.
