Bianca Brandlhofer
Sea Freight Import Team Leader
Vienna
Bianca you’ve been Team Leader for Sea Freight Import since 2022 now, right? Could you tell us something about what that position entails?
My daily work consists of pricing and operational work. This includes scheduling transports, correspondence with customers, partners, truckers, rail operators and shipping lines. Preparing shipments for customs clearance. Doing the invoicing and handling disputes. At the end of the month/year I need to make sure that all invoices are done, all files are neat and clean, check for any discrepancies and explain them to the higher instances. My position also includes budget planning and employee responsibility.
Sounds like an exciting mix of responsibilities! And what has been your favorite experience at Hellmann so far?
My best and most memorable moment at Hellmann so far was the opportunity to join our Global Sales Meeting in the Netherlands in March 2019. It was a great experience. I learned a lot from our Sales Management on how to gain business and had the chance to meet so many colleagues from all around the world in person. The networking I did there helped me a lot over the years to always know to whom to reach out to if I need any support from any other country. And the friendships last forever.
And how would you describe the working atmosphere?
It’s very familiar. The team spirit is strong, no one gets left out or behind. You don’t have to be afraid to ask any questions, everyone will be happy to help you out. We have regular team buildings or after work activities to maintain this strong relationship we have as a team.
Speaking of your team- could you tell us more about what your team is like?
Our Seafreight team in Vienna currently consists of 5 people. Three Girls in the Import department and 2 Girls in the Export Department. GIRL POWER! It is very harmonic. Everyone is up to fun and after-work activities. 95% of the time there are only good vibes and a lot of laughter.
It’s so important, to have with your team as well! Is there a moment with your team that is particularly memorable to you?
In September 2023 we visited the port of Trieste in Italy together as a team. This experience was truly amazing as it was the first time for all of us visiting a seaport, stand directly beside an huge container vessel and see the port operations (vessel discharging process) happening live and before our eyes. We had a weekend full of fun, good food/wine and a lot of SUN. We will never forget this trip.
Wow, that sounds like an amazing trip! What would you say makes Hellmann so special as an Employer?
Even though Hellmann is a big player on a global level, we are a small but strong team here in Austria. So you have both, the advantages of a big company on global level and at the same time also the advantages of a small team within the country.
And why is Hellmann the right place for you?
If you have any problems or worries you can ALWAYS reach out to your manager or your colleagues. No matter what type. You will always find an open ear and a supporting hand to help you out.
Could you finish this sentence: Working at Hellmann means to me…
…taking every day as it comes and to work with colleagues who might turn into friends – all around the world!
Bianca's application tips:
Be yourself. Be honest. Ask many questions. Maybe ask to do a trial day to get to know the team and get an insight to the operations upfront.
