Ramu, you are part of Hellmann since 2021. What has your career at Hellmann been like so far?
My journey at Hellmann has been incredible! I am inspired by how the leadership team cares for their employees' well-being. I have been fortunate to receive numerous opportunities that have helped me grow over the last two years.
That sounds great! What is your current job and what are your responsibilities?
As an Operations Manager, my role involves implementing lean principles to enhance operational efficiency. I aim to foster a culture that encourages a continuous improvement mindset among my team members. Additionally, I work towards identifying the strengths of my team members.
Where did your interest in this field arise from?
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I started my career at Jeddah Islamic Ports in Saudi Arabia, where I managed clearance, equipment spare parts storage, and yard operations. Since then, I have been fascinated by the Supply Chain sector, which led me to join Agility. My interest in warehouse operations flourished, and since then, there has been no turning back. I have dedicated almost 25 years to this sector that I am passionate about.
And what fascinates you about the logistics industry?
I have always been intrigued by the logistics industry, as it involves interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and allows me to get to know various processes and systems. I enjoy the challenge of meeting customer requirements and achieving set goals.
What has been your greatest professional success so far? Is there a project you are proud of?
I take pride in managing one of the largest automotive operations in Dubai, alongside a team of talented and smart individuals. My most cherished accomplishments is the implementation of customized optimal packaging solutions. This initiative led to significant improvements in packing optimization and container utilization. I was thrilled when the customer praised the initiative, noting its cost-effectiveness.
Sounds like a great success story! You are leading a team of 80 people. What do you like the most about your team?
I am extremely proud of my team. Their synergy, can-do attitude, and caring attitude are qualities that stand out. Without a doubt, my team members are truly hardworking. I have always observed that whenever we have a new joiner, my colleagues ensure the employee receives a warm welcome and assistance when needed. Their resilience and determination is what inspires me every day!
