Szilvia Mercz
Accountant
Hungary
Szilvia, thanks for sharing your experience with Hellmann! Your journey in the company started almost 14 years ago in 2010, but how did you end up with Hellmann?
The company was recommended to me by a good acquaintance, where they were currently looking for an Accountant for their financial department. I felt it was quite a significant challenge, but I decided to apply for the Accountant position within the financial department.
So you had a good impression of the company and were convinced to apply. What was the impression when you actually started at Hellmann?
My first impression was that there's no need to worry here; everyone is very helpful. I received a lot of support from my supervisor for my tasks, which I received gradually, not all at once. And my first impression turned out to be absolutely true, it has not changed in 14 years.
What fascinates you about your job and why did you choose it? Where did your interest in the field arise from?
I have always loved the world of finance, and it truly came to fruition at Hellmann Ltd. What captivates me even more here is that I not only see financial tasks but also gain insight into the entire logistics process as a logistics company.
What makes Hellmann special as an employer? Why do you consider Hellmann a great place to be?
It's special to me because here, the leaders don't make you feel like they are above you; you don't need to worry if they are present in the office—they treat you as an equally valuable person. It's also crucial that everyone's work is important here; every person's contribution matters.
What is your best memory?
A very fond memory for me is when we had the opportunity for my daughter to spend her internship years in logistics and later in finance at Hellmann Ltd, and I got to be her mentor. She was able to apply the experiences she gained with us in our company and elsewhere.
How would you describe the daily work as a accountant? Please give some insights.
I do many-many things such as preparation and handling of company financial transactions, participation in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing tasks, participation in organizing company events and activities and many other things.
Do you know that typical Monday feeling? Why do you get over it quickly at Hellmann?
I am familiar with that Monday feeling, but when I walk into the office on Monday morning, it quickly fades away, and by Friday, I wonder how it's Friday again.
I am very proud to work for such a company and in such a team, where mutual reliance is strong, where my superior is also my colleague, and I don't need to worry when talking or meeting with them—I'm genuinely happy about it. I don't fret about making mistakes; instead, I receive support and assistance.
